Chapter 4

Emptiness

Finn's heart raced with excitement as the plane touched down. The mission had been grueling but successful, and now he was finally heading home. He couldn't quite pinpoint the source of his excitement, but he was looking forward to returning to Canterbury.

As Finn made his way back, he found himself thinking about Liz. He wondered how she was doing and if she had noticed his absence. The thought of seeing her again brought a sense of anticipation he hadn't felt in a long time.

Meanwhile, Liz was busy planning a three-day vacation to Japan. She needed a break from her routine and hoped the trip would help her clear her mind. Despite her excitement for the getaway, she occasionally thought about Finn and wondered where he was. Their brief encounter had left a lasting impression on her.

As Liz packed her bags, she felt a twinge of disappointment. She had hoped to see Finn before she left, but there had been no sign of him. She tried to focus on the adventure that awaited her in Japan, pushing thoughts of Finn to the back of her mind.

Finn arrived back in Canterbury, his heart sinking a little when he saw Liz's shop closed. He checked every day, hoping to catch a glimpse of her, but the shop remained empty. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing, and he realized just how much he had come to enjoy their brief interactions.

Liz's trip to Japan was everything she had hoped for. The beautiful landscapes, serene temples, and vibrant culture provided a much-needed escape. Yet, even amidst the beauty of Japan, her thoughts occasionally drifted back to Finn. She wondered if he was thinking about her too, and the thought brought a smile to her face.

Back in Canterbury, Finn continued to check Liz's shop every day. He missed their brief conversations and the warmth she brought to his day. He longed to see her again, to hear her laugh, and to share more moments together.

As Liz's vacation came to an end, she found herself eager to return home. She had enjoyed her time in Japan, but the thought of seeing Finn again filled her with a sense of excitement. She wondered if he would be around when she got back, and the possibility made her heart race.

Finn stood outside Liz's shop, his heart pounding with anticipation. He didn't know when she would return, but he was determined to be there when she did. He couldn't wait to see her again and to see where their connection might lead.
