"Why are you even here?" Jane shouted, her voice echoing off the bathroom tiles. "This is the ladies' room!"
Hawk's expression didn't change, but a hint of amusement danced in his eyes. "I'm here for you," he said, his voice low and even. "And I don't care about the decorum of this particular location."
Jane's anger and frustration boiled over. "Get out!" she demanded, her hands on her hips. "Now!"
Hawk didn't move. Instead, he took a step closer, his eyes locked on hers. "You're not as innocent as you seem," he said, his voice dripping with conviction. "I know what you're involved in, and I'm not leaving until I get the truth out of you."
Jane's heart racing, she tried to push him away, but Hawk caught her wrists, holding her in place. She struggled against his grip, but he was too strong.
"Let me go," she spat, her eyes flashing with anger.
Hawk's gaze held hers, and for a moment, Jane felt like he could see right through her. "Not until you tell me the truth," he repeated, his voice firm but controlled.
The air between them was charged with tension, and Jane felt her breath catch in her throat. She knew she had to be careful, but a part of her wanted to push Hawk away, to see how far he'd go.
Hawk's eyes locked onto Jane's as he made a split-second decision. He reached into his pocket and palmed a small tracking device. With a swift motion, he slipped it into Jane's purse.
Jane's mind was a jumble of emotions and memories as she walked out of the bathroom. She couldn't shake off the feeling that the encounter with Hawk had stirred up. The intensity in his eyes, the way he held her wrists... it all felt so overwhelming.
But beneath the surface, a darker memory lurked. The memory of being forced to kill a soldier. She remembered the fear, the desperation, and the feeling of being trapped. But she didn't know who the soldier was or why she was forced to do it.
Jane's thoughts swirled with questions. Who was this man? What did he want from her? And why couldn't she shake off the feeling that her life was about to change forever?
As she walked, Jane's hand brushed against her purse, and she felt a strange lump. She reached inside and found a small object she didn't recognize. Confused, she pulled it out, but it was just a small piece of plastic. She put it back, wondering if it was something she'd picked up earlier.
Little did she know, her life was indeed about to take a dramatic turn, and Hawk was just the beginning.
Jane, where have you been?" Victor asked, his voice low and menacing. "I was starting to get worried."
Jane felt a shiver run down her spine as Victor's eyes narrowed. She knew that look, the way his jaw clenched in frustration. She'd seen it before, and it never ended well.
"I...I was just in the bathroom," Jane stammered, trying to deflect his attention.
Victor's gaze swept over her, searching for any sign of deception. "You were gone for a long time," he said, his voice dripping with suspicion. "Who were you talking to?"
Jane's heart skipped a beat. She knew she had to tread carefully. "No one," she said, trying to sound nonchalant. "I just lost track of time, that's all."
Victor's eyes lingered on hers, and for a moment, Jane thought she saw a flicker of doubt. But then his expression hardened, and he grasped her arm. "Let's get out of here," he said, his grip tightening. "We have a meeting to attend."
As Victor pulled her away, Jane caught a glimpse of the man watching from across the room, his eyes locked onto hers. She felt a spark of recognition, a sense that he knew more about her than she wanted him to. And in that moment, Jane wondered if she'd just made a terrible mistake.
