Shall we move to Episode 11: The Rebuilding Begins?
Shruthi smiled through her tears, holding the phone to her chest.
Miles apart, but something had shifted.
Two hearts - once silent, now whispering again.
It wasn't a fairy-tale fix. There was no background music, no magical sunrise to erase two years of silence.
But something had changed - both of them had chosen to try.
Shruthi started sending voice notes in the morning - small ones, talking about her chai, a colleague's joke, the chill in the air. Simple things she used to keep to herself.
Arjun replied with photos - a sunset from his terrace, his mom's new pickle recipe, a selfie with his dusty travel bag he hadn't touched in two years.
Every message was a brick.
Every call, a nail.
They were slowly rebuilding the home their hearts used to live in
One evening, Shruthi texted:
"I'm applying for transfer. If it gets approved, I'll be home in three months."
Arjun stared at that message for minutes.
His fingers hovered. Then typed:
"No pressure. Come home only if your heart is already there."
She replied almost instantly:
"It never left. I just forgot how to listen to it."
In the weeks that followed, Shruthi called his parents more often - small talk at first, then genuine connection. She asked after their health, shared updates, even sent gifts from the U.S. A gesture. A beginning.
Arjun, in return, began reconnecting with friends he had pushed away. He even pulled out his DSLR and started capturing sunsets again - not for social media, but for himself.
They weren't racing toward perfection.
They were walking, slowly, toward wholeness.
One night, Shruthi whispered on a call:
"Do you think we could… try for a child someday?"
Arjun paused.
Then smiled gently.
"Only if we raise them in love, not just a house."
Her voice cracked. "That's all I ever wanted too."
