It happened softly. Not in declarations or ceremony - but in passing.
Benjamin was sprawled across Donny's bed, flipping through a book about constellations. Christopher leaned against the windowsill, sketching the curve of Benjamin's cheek without comment. Donny stood at his desk, selecting a song that felt like the right kind of brave.
"You guys okay if I add this to our sleepover playlist?" Donny asked, holding up his phone.
Christopher looked up. "Definitely."
Benjamin grinned. "Our playlist. I like how that sounds."
Donny hesitated, caught on the word. "Yeah," he said slowly. "Ours. Us."
It lingered in the air. Us.
They shared looks - not stunned, not panicked. Just quiet, mutual recognition. A shape forming between them.
Later, while brushing their teeth side by side, Benjamin nudged Donny's hip.
"You meant it, right?" he asked. "Us?"
Donny rinsed, then leaned in close enough to whisper, "I don't know exactly what we are. But I know I belong when I'm with you."
Benjamin turned to Christopher, toothbrush half-raised.
Christopher shrugged, smiling. "Sounds like something worth calling love."
That night, they fell asleep under the same blanket - legs tangled, cheeks flushed. Someone snored. Someone murmured a dream.
And "us" became more than a word. It became a promise.
