I listened in on his conversation over the phone and my stomach dropped. I finally realized why he was calm. He planned on selling me that day.
I tip toed quietly to my make shift room that I had been managing for a couple of months now since he forbade me from sleeping in his bed, not that I wanted to anyway.
I needed to escape and I needed to do it then. I began to pack up whatever I could lay my hands on quickly and toss them into a bag. I listened for his movements, and on hearing nothing, I dashed straight for the door. I stumbled in the process, alerting him of my impending escape.
I stood back up and began running again, James hot on my pursuit. I didn't stop, I didn't look back. I ran and ran and ran.
Eventually I lost him.
I pulled a few pieces of crumbles notes from my packed bag and paid for a nearby hotel.
I looked at the mirror in the room provided.
