Detective Milo Jenkins wasn't your average detective. For one, his office was a converted storage closet above a bakery, and two, he only solved "crimes of convenience" - things like missing socks, lost remotes, and in one memorable case, a goldfish that escaped its bowl and was later found hiding under a hat.
But this morning was different.
Milo was sipping cold coffee when Mrs. Pennyworth, the bakery owner, burst in, waving her rolling pin like a sword.
"Milo! It's a catastrophe!" she screeched. "Someone stole my triple-decker turkey sandwich!"
Milo blinked. "Your… lunch?"
"Not just lunch! It was my competition entry for the Great Gourmet Gala! That sandwich was going to win me a golden spatula!"
Milo grabbed his trusty notepad. "Alright. Start from the top. When did you last see… the Sandwich?"
Mrs. Pennyworth sniffled dramatically. "Ten minutes ago. I stepped away to frost some cupcakes, and when I came back - it was gone! Just a plate and… a single crumb!"
Milo crouched by the plate, peering at the crumb with all the gravitas of a surgeon examining an X-ray. "Hmm. Suspiciously… sesame."
As if on cue, a loud thud echoed from the bakery kitchen. Milo leapt to his feet.
"Mrs. Pennyworth," he said dramatically, "lock the door. We've got a sandwich thief on the loose."
