The sun was setting, casting a warm golden glow over the Might Five as they stood outside Liberty High, waiting for their ride home. Margret had everyone engaged in conversation. Laughter filled the air as they shared stories of their day.
Gem couldn't help but feel her cheeks flush when she heard Margret's cheerful laughter. Her heart skipped a beat, and she silently thought to herself, "One day, I will find the courage to tell her how I really feel."
Lost in her thoughts, Gem suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder. Surprised, she turned around to find Charles standing there, a face from the past that she hadn't seen since middle school. Overwhelmed with joy, she immediately enveloped him in a tight hug, unable to contain her excitement.
"Charles! What are you doing here?" Gem asked, her eyes shining with surprise and happiness.
Charles smiled warmly, his eyes twinkling. "I just transferred here." he replied. "It's so good to see you, babe. But you forgot your jacket."
Gem's heart skipped s beat as Charles called her "Babe." She took the sweater from him, feeling a mix of emotions bubbling inside. Meanwhile, Margret watched the exchange unfold, a strange ache foaming in her stomach. She tried to push the feeling aside, unsure of what it meant.
Just then, Sebastian, pulled up in the sleek black car to pick up Margret. Opening the door, he announced, "Time to return home, Miss Margret."
Margret's face reddened slightly as she waved goodbye to her friends. "Gotta go, girls." she said. "And nice to meet you, Charles."
With a final smile, Margret climbed into the car, and Sebastian closed the door behind her. As the car pulled away, Gem couldn't shake the uneasy feeling in her chest, wondering if Margret had noticed the connection between her and Charles.

A few hours later, Margret was in her room, her head still spinning about what happened earlier that day, when Sebastian walked into the room. He cleared his throat and started to speak. "Pardon me, Miss Margret. Mister Chris has just arrived home."
Margret's heart raced as she heard Sebastian's words. She quickly straightened her dress and smoothed down her hair, trying to contain her excitement. The door to her room creaked open a few minutes later, and Chris stepped inside, a warm smile on his face.
"Hey there, sis." Chris said, his voice filled with affection. Margret couldn't help but throw her arms around him, pulling him into a tight hug. She hadn't realized how much she missed him until that moment.
But as they pulled apart, Chris studied her with a concerned expression. "Your eyes seem duller today." he observed. "Have you been crying?"
Margret shook her head, her mind still consumed by the event of the day. "No, it's not that." she replied, her voice laced with uncertainty. "It's just...Gem's boyfriend transferred to Liberty high. I know I should be happy for her, but instead, I feel jealous."
Chris arched an eyebrow, surprise evident on his face. He had always thought of his sister as someone who liked boys. But he knew better than to question her feelings. "Margret," he began, choosing his words carefully. "It's okay. You can't control who you love. The heart wants what the heart wants. And Gem will realize that soon enough."
Margret felt a surge of relief wash over her. She had feared rejection or judgement from her brother, but instead, he offered understanding and support. It was a weight lifted off her shoulders, knowing that she didn't have to hide or suppress her emotions any longer.
A small smile played on her lips as she took a deep breath. "Thank you, Chris." she whispered. "I needed to hear that."
He reached out and squeezed her hand reassuringly. "I'm always here for you, no matter what." he said, his voice filled with love. "Just remember, you deserve happiness, Margret. Whether it's with Gem or someone else, follow your heart."
Margret nodded, feeling a newfound sense of courage. She knew there would be challenges ahead as she navigated her feelings, but with her brother's support, she felt ready to face whatever cake her way.

The next day at school, Margret was just walking to her locker when Charles stopped her in er tracks, a sly grin on his face. "Hey, Cutie." he said, his voice dripping with charm. "You seemed like a very popular kid."
Margret leaned back, her eyes narrowing. "It's Margret to you, mister." she responded, her tone firm. "And I'm not popular. I'm just a fashion model." With a polite nod, she tried to walk away, determined not to let his flirty comments affect her.
But Charles wasn't ready to give up. He followed her, keeping pace with her hurried steps. "Come on, Margret." he persisted, a teasing twinkle in his eyes. "Don't be so modest. I've seen the way people look at you. You've got that 'it' factor."
Annoyance rose within Margret, her patience wearing thin. She brushed past Charles and made her way to her locker. But just as she got her books out, Charles closed her locker door smirking mischievously. "Do you want to hang out after school? I could treat you to some coffee."
Now Margret was really annoyed and also a little scared. She knew that Charles was trying to flirt with her and she was losing her patience. "Excuse me." she said, her voice tinged with frustration. "I have to get to class." She shoved him aside and made her way into the classroom, hoping to find some solace in the familiar surroundings.
Margret and Emily were in their Algebra class together, but Margret had a hard time focusing. The encounter with Charles had thrown her off balance. Sensing her friend's unease, Emily leaned in and whispered, "What's wrong, Margret? You seem a little anxious"
Margret sighed, her shoulders slumping. "It's Charles." she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "He stopped me at my locker and kept making flirty comments."
Emily's eyes widened, a sly grin forming on her face. "Margret," she said, her tone playful. "I have a perspective that Charles is into you."
Margret eyebrow furrowed, confusion washing over her. "Into me? But why?"
Emily chuckled, her voice laced with amusement. Well, let's see." she began, ticking off her fingers. "You're beautiful, confident, and a natural leader. Plus, you've got this undeniable aura about you."
Margret blushed, her cheeks turning a shade of pink. She never thought of herself in that way. "But what about Gem?" she questioned, her voice filled with concern. "I don't want to hurt her."
Emily placed a reassuring hand on Margret's shoulder. "We'll figure it out, Margret." she assured her. "Just remember, you deserve to be happy too."
Margret nodded, a hint of determination settling in her gaze.
But throughout the rest of the day, Charles had been following Margret lie a shadow. It made her skin crawl, and she couldn't shake off the uncomfortable feeling that settled deep within her.
During Chemistry class, as Margret tried to focus on the experiments, she could feel Charles's eyes burning into her back. The constant stare sent shivers down her spine, and she couldn't understand why he was fixated on her. She wasn't sure about what to do. She didn't like Charles and she didn't want to hurt Gem.
History class was no different. Charles gaze never wavered, and it seemed as though he was studying her every move. Gem noticed the intensity of his stare and couldn't help but speak up.
"Why are you staring at her like that?" Gem asked, her voice laced with concern.
Charles turned his attention to Gem, wearing a nonchalant expression. "I'm just fascinated at what she's wearing." he replied, his tone far from convincing.
Gem shrugged, not entirely convinced by his explanation, but she decided to brush it off for the moment. Deep down, though, she couldn't shake off the uneasy feeling.
Finally, unable to bear it any longer, Margret mustered the courage to take action. She stood up from her seat and turned to Charles. "Please stop staring at me. You are making me uncomfortable and I don't appreciate it." she yelled. Everyone in the classroom was looking at her now, wondering what was going on. Margret covered her face as she turned red in embarrassment and quickly removed herself from the class.
Outside the classroom, Gem caught up with Margret, her worry etched across her face. "Are you alright, Margret?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine concern.
Margret forced a smile, trying to make her discomfort. "I'm fine, Gem." she replied, her voice quivering slightly. "I just need some space right now."
Gem nodded, understanding her friend's need for solitude. "Alright, I'll be here if you need anything." she said softly, giving Margret a reassuring pat on the back.
Margret walked away, her mind racing with unanswered questions. Why was Charles behaving this way towards her? And why did it make her feel so on edge? She knew she needed to figure out the answer, but for now, she needed to find solace within herself.
For the entire week, Charles's presence loomed over Margret like a dark cloud. His constant following and unwavering gaze were starting to grate on her nerves. But Margret couldn't ignore the fact that it was also bothering Gem, and that weighed heavily on her heart.
One day, as Charles trailed behind her again, Margret reached her breaking point. She turned abruptly, her voice trembling with frustration. "Charles, please stop! I don't appreciate your behavior towards me. And keep in mind, I would never date someone my best friend loves." she blurted out, her words filled with a mix of anger and hurt.
This unexpected confrontation startled Charles, and for a moment, Margret thought she had finally gotten through to him. But instead, his expression twisted into one of anger. "I don't love her, Margret!" he spat out, his voice laced with venom. "I love you! I was only with Gem because her daddy is rich! And if you also want to know, I cheated on her with many other girls over the years."
Margret stood there, stunned and shocked, her heart sinking with each word that tumbled out of Charles's mouth. He was a gold digger and a cheater, a wolf in sheep's clothing. The realization hit her like a tidal wave, leaving her struggling to process the depth of his deception.
But before Margret could gather her thoughts and respond, a voice pierced through the tense air. "What?! You only want my father's wealth?!" It was Gem, her voice quivering with disbelief and pain. Apparently, she had overheard everything.
Margret heart shattered into a million pieces as she witnessed the devastation written across Gem's tear-stained face. She tried to reach out, to explain, to apologize, but the words caught in her throat. Before she could utter a single syllable, Gem turned on her heel and ran out of the school, her sobs echoing in Margret's ears.
Desperation flooded Margret's veins, fueling her determination to chase after her brokenhearted best friend. "Gem, wait!" she called out, her voice riddled with both regret and longing. But Gem was already gone, disappearing into the distance, leaving Margret standing there, alone with her guilt

The next day arrived, heavy with worry and regret. Margret took a deep breath, mustering up the strength to face the consequences of her actions. Even though she knew this wasn't entirely she fault, she had to fix this mess. Determined to make amends with Gem, she made her way to her best friend's house.
Margret knocked on the door, and after a few seconds, the door creaked open, revealing Gem's father, Ryan Ebony, concern etched across his face. Margret asked, "Good morning, Mr. Ebony. Is Gem home?"
He nodded, his voice filled with sympathy. "She's in her room."
Margret's heart ached as she ascended the stairs, her mind replaying the sound of Gem's sobs. She reached the bedroom door, her hand trembling as she raised it to knock. But before her knuckles met the wood, the sound of heart-wrenching sadness reached her ears.
Pushing open the door, Margret's eyes flooded with tears at the sight before her. Gem lay curled up on the bed amidst a sea of crumpled tissues. Her face, swollen and red, mirrored the pain she felt inside.
Margret's instinct to tidy up overtook her, and she quickly grabbed a small trash can, scooping up the discarded tissues one by one. "Gem," she started, her voice shaky. "I know you're hurting right now, and I'm sorry if I'm the reason. But I want you to know that I don't like Charles. In fact, I never did."
Gem's tear-streaked eyes met Margret's, filled with confusion and vulnerability. "It's not your fault. He was the one cheating on me, Margret. And I didn't even realize."
The trash can found its place on the floor, forgotten for now. Margret reached for a handkerchief, gently wiping away the remnants of snot and tears from Gem's face. Then, she wrapped her arms around her best friend, pulling her into a tight embrace.
"It's okay, Gem." Margret whispered, her voice filled with compassion. "I'm here for you. Cry on my shoulder as much as you need. I don't mind."
Gem's body shook with sobs, but Margret held her close, offering a safe haven for her pain.

A week had passed, everyone seemed to be talking about Gem's absence. Margret couldn't help but feel a pang of worry in her chest. She knew that Gem needed time to heal after her heartbreak with Charles, but this felt different. It felt like something more than just a broken heart.
As Margret sat in class, she could barely focus because her mind kept drifting to Gem. She wondered if she was sick or if there was something else going on. Unable to shake off her concern, Margret decided to talk to Jasmine and the Twins about it during the lunch break, as they too were concerned.
"Girls, you know we haven't seen Gem in days, and it's starting to get concerning." Margret shared, her voice tinged with worry. "I've been texting and calling her, but she hasn't responded. I'm really starting to get worried."
Jasmine, always the empathetic one, furrowed her brow. "I honestly thought she just needed some time to herself. Maybe some space after what happened with Charles.
"It could be." Emily chimed in, concern evident on her face. "However, I too am very concern. We should reach out to her just to make sure she's alright. We're her friends, after all."
Carly nodded in agreement. "Let's try calling her after school today. Sometimes someone just needs a friend to talk to."
Just as they finished discussing their plan, Margret phone began to ring. The screen displayed an unknown number, causing a mix of hope and apprehension to flutter in Margret's heart. Her first thought was it could be Gem. But then she thought to herself, "Why would Gem be calling me from an unknown number?"
With her heart pounding, Margret answered the call. "Hello?"
But it wasn't Gem on the other end of the line. It was Gem's mother, Lauren Ebony. Margret's worry intensified as she listened to the tremor in Lauren's voice.
"Hello, Margret. I know you and the girls haven't seen Gem in almost a week." Lauren said, her voice breaking. "She's not just going through the rough breakup. It's something else bothering her. I don't feel right to explain over the phone, but I would like to meet you and explain the situation in person."
A heavy knot formed in Margret's stomach. Something was seriously wrong, and Margret couldn't shake off the feeling that she needed to be there for her best friend.
"Of course, Mrs. Ebony." Margret replied, her voice filled with determination. "Where and when would you like to meet?"
Lauren suggested meeting ay the Overseas Cafe after school. After Margret hung up, she quickly relayed the details to the rest of the team, who agreed to meet Lauren Ebony after school. But Margret's mind raced with worry and questions. What could be happening to Gem? And how could they help her through whatever it was?
After school, as the four girls entered the familiar Cafe, the atmosphere was heavy with worry. Lauren was already there, her eyes tired and worried. They all sat down, their usual excitement replaced with a somber silence. Margret could feel her heart sinking, fearing the worst.
Lauren took a deep breath before speaking. "Ever since the break up, my poor Gem has been isolating herself. " she began, her voice filled with concern. "She was even diagnosed with Anxiety a few days back. She didn't want to talk to anyone. Not even me."
Jasmine's eyes welled up with tears, her hands trembling. Emily stared at Lauren, wide-eyed and unable to find the right words. Carly's face mirrored the shock and worry that filled the room. But it was Margret who felt the weight of guilt the most.
She mustered up the courage to speak through the stifling silence. "Is there anything we can do to help?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine concern.
Lauren looked at her with gratitude in her eyes. "I appreciate your concerns. But right now, she needs professional help." she replied, her voice laced with sadness. "All this has affected her very negatively. She's seeing a therapist, and I've also talked to the school counselor."
Margret's heart sank even further, realization hitting her. This was more serious than she had imagined. She glanced at her friends, seeing the worry etched on their faces. "We're here for her." Margret said firmly, her voice filled with determination. "Whatever she needs, whatever it takes, we'll be there."
The girls nodded in agreement, their bond stronger than ever. They may not have all the all the answers, but they had each other. they understood the power of friendship and their unwavering support.
Lauren smiled, gratitude shining in her eyes. "Thank you." she whispered, her voice chocked with emotion. "Gem is so lucky to have friends like you."
Leaving the Cafe, the girls walked side by side, their hearts heavy with concern but filled with determination.
Later that night, Gem was still in her room, still sobbing into her pillow. The weight of betrayal felt heavy on her shoulders, and the pain seemed never ending. Lauren gently entered the room and softly closed the door behind her. She approached Gem's bed and sat down beside her, placing a comforting hand on her back.
"He...he was just playing me, Mom." Gem managed to say through her tears. "He only cares about himself. And Daddy's too angry to see how much I'm suffering now."
Lauren's heart broke for her daughter, but she knew she needed to be strong for her. She pulled Gem closer and embraced her tightly. "I know, Sweetie." she whispered, her voice filled with understanding. "Your father will lighten up. He just needs time to think. As for Charles, he wasn't the best guy for you if he didn't love you."
Just then, Ryan entered the room, his face filled with regret and remorse. he approached Gem's bed, his footsteps heavy with the weight of his actions. "Your mother is right, Gem." he said, his voice filled with sincerity. "But I shouldn't have taken my anger out on my own daughter. I love you and nothing will ever change that, Kiddo. We're here for you."
Gem's tears continued to flow, but a glimmer of hop began to flicker within her. She looked at her parents, their arms wrapped tightly around her, their love palpable in the air. In that moment, she realized that she wasn't alone in her pain.
Finally, Gem's sobs began to subside, and her breathing steadied. She looked into her parents' eyes and saw the unwavering love they held for her.
"I love you both. "Gem whispered, her voice filled with vunerability and gratitude.
"We love you too, Gem" Lauren replied, her voice filled with tenderness. " And we'll always be here for you, no matter what."
Ryan nodded, his eye reflecting his deep affection for his daughter. "We'll get through this together, Gem. We'll help you heal."
Gem smiled weakly, grateful for the support that surrounded her.
As the night stretched on, Gem, allowed herself to rest, knowing that the journey to healing had just begun. She closed her eyes, feeling the love and warmth surrounding her, and whispered a silent prayer for strength and courage.

After two weeks of being absent, Gem finally returns to school. The Mighty Five couldn't contain their happiness at having her back, but Margret was the happiest of them all. She rushed over to Gem and wrapped her in a tight hug, comforting hug.
As they stood there, sharing a moment of relief and joy Charles suddenly appeared before them. he wore a hopeful expression on his face as he opened his arms, ready to embrace Gem. However, Gem pushed him away with all her strength, a fire burning in her eyes.
"Stay away from me!" she exclaimed/ "You don't deserve to be anyone's boyfriend! I have my friends and family! And that's all I need!"
The Mighty Five, standing together in solidarity, felt a rush of pride for Gem's strength and resilience. They knew that she had found her voice, and no longer needed Charles to define her worth.
As they began to walk away, Gem turned back to face Charles one last time. "By the way, my father has already sued you for every penny you have. I hope you enjoy being single for the rest of your life."
With that, Gem turned her back on Charles and caught up with her friends, leaving Charles standing in the hallway in silence and defeat.
After school, Margret and gem sat outside under the pale spring sky, the soft breeze gently brushing against their faces. The familiar laughter and chatter of their classmates filled the air, but in that moment, it was just the two of them.
Catching up on the last two weeks, they shared stories, laughs, and the weight of their worries slowly melted away. Gem looked at Margret, her heart pounding in her chest, knowing that the time had come to confess her true feelings.
Taking a deep breath, Gem mustered up the courage and asked, Margret, can I tell you something? Something important?"
Margret smile warmly, her eyes filled with curiosity. "Sure, Gem. You can tell me anything. You know that."
Gem's voice quivered as she spoke the words she had kept locked inside for months. "I...I have a crush on you, Margret. I've had it for a while now. Since your first day at Liberty High, I couldn't take my mind off you."
Margret's eyes widened in surprise, a hit of realization mixed with her shock. It felt like her heart was doing somersaults in her chest. She had always felt a deep connection with Gem, but she never dared to think it could be something more.
Before Gem could continue, Margret gently placed a finger on her lips. halting her words. A soft smile graced Margret's face as she whispered, "Gem, I think you've said enough."
Gem's eyes filled with tears, unsure of what Margret's interruption meant. Was she rejecting her? Her heart felt heavy with the weight of uncertainty.
But then, in a single moment, Margret reached out, tenderly wiping away Gem's tears. And with a surge of bravery, Margret leaned in and kissed her softly on the lips. It was a gentle, affirming kiss that spoke volumes, no words necessary.
As they parted, Margret looked into gem's eyes, the corners of her lips turning up. "Don't cry anymore, Gemstone. I love you."
Gem could hardly believe her eyes. A wave of joy washed over her, erasing all the pain and confusion she had endured over the past few weeks. She took Margret's hand in hers, intertwining their fingers, and whispered, "I love you too, Margret. More than words could ever express."
