In the chaos of smoke and bullets, Leo met Hope Bennett - a nurse stationed near the front.
She was fearless, sharp-tongued, and suspicious of everything.
"You're too clever for a soldier," she said one evening as they patched up the wounded. "Who are you really?"
Leo hesitated. But he told her the truth.
"I'm from the future. I drank time-travel tea."
Hope blinked. "You're mad."
"Probably," Leo said, grinning. "But madmen usually make history."
Hope didn't laugh. "If you're really from the future… tell me. Do we win?"
Leo nodded slowly. "Yes. But it's hard. People suffer. But we make it through."
She didn't say anything for a long time. Then finally, softly:
"Then help us get there."
