I was more exhausted than ever, heading back home with no patience left for anything. The only things that could calm me were a hot shower and a bitter cup of black coffee.
This time, I decided to take the subway. A bad decision - like every choice made by the weak and worn-out people sitting there, staring blankly at the ceiling and the metal walls of the train. And then, after so long… I saw her.
It's strange. I had never thought the world might be using me for its own entertainment - placing me among all these dull, lifeless faces - just to throw her in front of me again.
It had been a long time since I last saw her. But she was still beautiful… innocent… and dark. I had never truly gotten the chance to know her. I had always watched her from a distance, and in the depths of my heart, I loved her - felt some unspoken claim over her - yet I never dared to declare it. Sara…
She noticed my gaze from across the train. She was studying me, trying to make sure whether she recognized me or not. I didn't wait. I walked toward her.
Michael: You still don't recognize me?
Sara: Your face looks familiar… like we've met before.
Michael: Yeah. We've seen each other many times. But I never had the chance to really meet you properly.
Sara: My name is Sara.
Michael: I'm Michael.
Sara: Nice to meet you, Michael.
Michael: But you and I have already seen each other before. Do you think we really need to start from the beginning?
Sara: If we were that familiar, we wouldn't need introductions. So yeah, I guess we should start over.
Michael: So I should start watching you from afar again?
Sara: You talk like you've been in love with me for years and I just never knew it.
Michael: That's true. There's a lot you don't know.
Sara: Like what?
Michael: This is my stop. I hope I see you again so we can really talk.
Sara: You can't just leave like that. Wherever you're going, take me with you.
Michael: No. We should save this conversation for later. Goodbye.
I stepped off the train and quickly exited the station…
