"Micam! Look what I got" I said running to my oldest brother, holding the prettiest butterfly in my hand. "Wow" He replied un interestedly, "Wait, give it to me for a second." He said just as I was about to leave. "Oh here you go, be gentle with it". I said with joy giving the butterfly to him carefully. "Oh what a pretty little creature he said, crushing it in his hands. " Stop! you're killing it",. I cried out.
"You know why I killed it?" He said after dumping it on the ground, I watched it's little wings flutter hopelessly.
"Because you're mean." I shot back at him, with anger. "No, it's to demonstrate how only the strong survive and how the weak don't."
"What a great life lesson my brother has taught me, oh it would be so helpful in completing my homework, oh or defeating my friends."
"Yeah keep that sarcasm to yourself, you'll thank me someday."
"Sure, I will. I said leaving him be.
I drag myself back to reality, Thanks Micam. I thought to myself, feeling a tiny smile appearing on my face.
The smile drops in an instant as a knock arrives at the door. I get up wiping the tears of my face.
"My queen, you are expected to be present for the syndicate".
I simply gave him a quick nod gesturing him to lead the way.
We settled in a room which was lit brightly than most the others. The walls colored black and a slight cream color, vines hanging down every corner, glowing. A wooden table positioned in the center with eight chairs gathered around it, each one occupied with an oblivion, Four with the silver eyes, the rest with the black eyes. One left empty. For the Queen, for me.
"What is this about?" I asked exhausted, sitting on the chair left empty for me.
"The hunaams that have been sent on earth. The mission they were sent on is almost complete, we are here to discuss about when to execute the next plan."
One of the silver eyed oblivion said.
"What mission were they sent on? and what was the designated plan?" I asked, now on high alert.
"They were sent on a mission to destroy the planet earth, we are closer to achieving our goal than we ever have been, The hithers were sent, disguised as hunaams, they have gained access to the entire worlds nuclear bombs, the problem lies in the code, we are still figuring it out, we needed your consent to advance toward the last step - Wiping the hunaam race from existence.
My vision blurred, a loud siren rung in my head, I couldn't grasp what he was saying - Wipe out the human race? I spoke before I could think "If you are soo keen on killing. Then I will arrange a system for that for you. I here by announce this mission to come to an end, And a message to the hithers to be sent; to return back immediately." I said my voice lingering as I stood up to leave, I stopped "Release the humans kept in that dungeon, order for a large meal to be prepared for them, provide them with the best rooms in the palace." I said my voice more controlled this time along. With that I left, Cilith following behind me.
"Oh, Cilith can you show me to one of the already prepared rooms?" I said stopping midway in the never ending hallway.
She nodded walking fast in front of me.
We came to a stop before a huge door, cilith opened it and the room inside was simply magnificent it was gigantic, chandeliers, shimmering stars, flowers hanging from the roof, the floor made of a strange soft yet steady material with strange symbols beautiful sewn onto it. A bed covered with the softest sheet to exist.
I placed the crown on my head down on the side table.
"Seira, you're not making the right call releasing the prisoners all at once, you haven't the faintest idea of how dangerous they are."
"Let me ask you a question." I said, looking into her golden eyes for the first time. "Did you ever stop to think that perhaps you were the dangerous one?"
"I know, it's hard for you to believe but they aren't the same as they were before they came here, they have been corrupted." She said looking anxious.
I didn't speak, I went towards her with slow steps. Eyes locked.
I could sense how fearful she felt, I wanted to feed on it, I stopped myself before I could. I snatched my eyes away from hers.
I sighed heavily, remembering how I once felt what she was feeling.
"Leave me to deal with their corrupted minds" I said giving her a small smile, not sinister, just tired.
Her tensed shoulder relaxed, she gave me a quick nod then bow and left, closing the door behind her.
I let out a huge sigh of relief and threw myself on the bed as she left.
What have I become? I thought to myself as I closed my eyes, falling into an endless night filled with nightmares, disguised as dreams.
Seira! You were never like this - what has gotten into you?" my mother screams, her eyes fixed on the bruises across my face.
"She deserved it!" I snap, my voice sharp, my chest heaving with anger.
"No. You can't go around hurting people just because they don't agree with you," she says, disbelief and hurt tangled in her tone.
"Now go - apologize to her."
"No!" I shout, stomping away, slamming my door behind me. Her voice trails after me, faint, almost broken.
"What has gotten into her? She was never this…"
"Cruel," I mutter under my breath.
How could she expect me to apologize to someone who insulted my parents? The thought burns inside me, but then - my door bursts open.
"You killed her!" Areis screams, her face pale with horror.
"What? No, I didn't!" My throat tightens, panic twisting in my gut.
"Go look outside. She's dead," Micam says, his voice flat, merciless.
My body moves before my mind does. I run outside, my heart hammering against my ribs. And there she is - motionless. Blood pools beneath her, spilling from her eyes, her chest torn open. The sight knocks the air from my lungs. I stumble back inside, collapsing to the floor as I vomit.
When I look up, all I see are their eyes - my family's eyes - staring at me with disgust, fear, hatred.
"I… I didn't do this. Mom, you believe me, right?" My voice cracks, desperate, trembling.
"How could you kill her? How could you be so vile?" Emily whispers, her words sharp as knives.
"I didn't raise this devil," my mother says, her voice laced with venom.
"Dad," I plead, barely holding myself together. "You believe me, right?"
But he won't even look at me. His disappointment cuts deeper than anger.
"What have you become?" he says, and the words shatter me.
A loud, angry knock, wakes me up from my dream. Part of me glad it does, the other part dreading what's about to come.
