Seira! Come here what are you doing sitting there all alone? my mother shouted as she taught my younger siblings how to swim at the beach. Unlike my younger siblings I already knew how to swim. My real mother taught me that when I was 10. Coming mom! I shouted back as I laid my book down to join my family. I jumped into the freezing water, colliding with the waves moving farther away from the shore with each breath as I recalled the last memory I had of my biological mother, going to my grandmothers house, us laughing at the silly jokes my father was making when all of A sudden I saw a blinding light infront of us and could do nothing but scream that was the moment my whole world collapsed. I was the only one who survived that car accident that night . Not my mother, Not my father. Me, only me. A sudden rush of panic ran through me as I returned back to reality and realized the fact that I have lost sight of the shore and was practically swimming in the middle of nowhere. I kept swimming at a faster pace now in hopes of finding the shore, this wasn't the first time id drifted off that far away from the shore, however it was unquestionably the first time id felt this lost. In the midst of my panic I saw something that made me question my existence, Made me wonder if I was hallucinating or not. There it was, The most mesmerizing light rising from the depth of the ocean, I followed it knowing it was arbitrary, manufactured maybe even malicious, yet I couldn't turn away from it. It looked as though it was simply a few laps away from me however the more I swam towards it the further it got or it seemed to be so. I was about to give up when I got the magnificent idea to submerge my self into the water and directly travel towards the root of the light the bottom that is. Without giving my thought a second chance I dived head into the water as I cut through the water and sped up my pace with each moment, the deeper I went, the darker it got as I could see the light and where it was emerging from more clearly than ever, It looked like it belonged to an entire different, it was unlike anything id ever seen, rays of light in red black golden and white colors shining brightly just like the stars, coming together forming a circle , almost like an entrance, a portal. It looked truly majestic and mesmerizing, I thought about going back up to the surface but I couldn't, I could most literally feel it calling to me, begging me to come closer... .....to come in. I kept going deeper and deeper, the only thing I could see was the portal.... I didn't stop until n excruciating need for oxygen hit me. I turned my body toward the surface as best I could, pushing through the water, which now felt like a cage - trapping me in. The faster I moved, the more energy I lost. I was almost at the top, but I couldn't reach it. It felt as though something was pulling me back.
I desperately flapped my arms and legs in an attempt to rise. I screamed, but heard nothing - only silence. Water seeped into my mouth, possibly my lungs, and I could no longer move. I tried one last time. I almost got my head out of the water when a huge wave engulfed me, dragging me back down.
My throat began to close. My lungs filled with water. My breath was blocked. I could feel everything - and something pulling me deeper: into the depth, the darkness... and the light. The portal.
My vision blurred as I finally closed my eyes. My body went numb.
"You must fool them into believing you're one them, that is the only way you'd be able to pull through" Said a familiar voice, I opened my eyes to see my mother standing in front of me, in a beautiful white gown hair shining as bright as the sun, eyes as blue as the ocean, skin as pale as ever, "you can act like you belong, but don't make the mistake of thinking that you truly do" She paused for a second there, I was failing miserably in trying to make sense of what she was saying, when she begun again; "Second chances don't come without a reason, you were chosen to rise not to retreat". With that she was gone, in the blink of an eye as if she'd travelled along with the wind. The moment she was gone something or perhaps someone pushed me, hard, I fell from the edge i'd been standing on, A loud and shrill scream of horror erupted from inside me as I hit the ground, losing consciousness.
