The 63rd New York Film Festival has unveiled its prestigious Main Slate lineup, featuring 34 carefully curated films from 26 countries that showcase the year's most acclaimed and anticipated cinema. The festival, running from September 26 to October 13, 2025, presents a diverse selection of world cinema that includes multiple award winners from this year's major film festivals.
The lineup stands out for its remarkable inclusion of Cannes Film Festival champions, most notably Jafar Panahi's Palme d'Or-winning "It Was Just an Accident". The Iranian filmmaker's triumph at Cannes marked a triumphant return after years of government restrictions and imprisonment. Joachim Trier's "Sentimental Value," which claimed the Grand Prix at Cannes, also features prominently in the slate, alongside other Cannes winners including Oliver Laxe's "Sirât" and Mascha Schilinski's "Sound of Falling," both recipients of the Jury Prize.
