The Weight of Regret

Liam didn't call. Days passed, and the silence between them grew heavier, suffocating. Hazel spent hours staring at her phone, waiting for a message that never came. She knew she should reach out, try to explain again, but what was the point? Every time they talked, it only made things worse.

She replayed their conversations over and over in her mind, wondering where she had gone wrong. If only she had told him the truth earlier, if only she hadn't let the shadow of Oliver come between them.

The weight of regret was unbearable.

Hazel had never meant to fall in love with Liam. She had never meant to hurt him. But now, her love had only brought him pain, and she was left with nothing but the remnants of what could have been.

One night, unable to sleep, she walked through the empty streets, her mind swirling with memories of Liam - the way his eyes had softened when he looked at her, the sound of his laughter, the warmth of his arms around her. It felt like a lifetime ago, like a dream that had slipped through her fingers.

She sat by the river, watching the water rush by, tears streaming down her face. She had lost him. And there was nothing she could do to get him back.
