Chapter Four: Letters Never Sent
It had been three weeks.
Sophie tried to convince herself it had been nothing - just two people passing time over coffee.
But late at night, she drafted emails she never sent.
"I hope you're okay."
"Did I do something wrong?"
"I miss talking to you."
Each one she deleted.
Until one Thursday, just as she was packing up her laptop, a hand slid a note across the table.
Her heart leapt.
She looked up.
Daniel.
"I owe you an explanation," he said softly.
She opened the note.
Sophie,
I left because I was scared.
Scared of how much I looked forward to seeing you.
Scared of how easy you made things feel.
I've always run when things got real.
But this time, I want to stop running if you'll still have coffee with me.
- Daniel
