The red emergency lights painted the underground corridors in crimson.
The blast doors slammed shut behind Emily, Victoria, Walker, Gabriel and Luca.
Silence.
Then came the metallic sound of dozens of rifles being raised.
Adrian Volkov stepped forward, his black coat flowing behind him.
"You finally found me."
Victoria met his cold stare.
"No."
"We finally cornered you."
Volkov smiled.
"You've inherited your father's confidence."
"And his mistakes."
Without another word, he raised one hand.
The Black Vipers opened fire.
"Cover!"
Walker shouted.
The team scattered behind thick concrete pillars as bullets tore through the corridor.
Emily leaned around the corner and returned fire with controlled precision.
Two Vipers dropped their weapons and retreated.
Luca advanced from the opposite side, forcing the attackers back.
Gabriel stayed close to Victoria.
"I've got your left."
Victoria gave him a quick nod.
"I've got yours."
For the first time since they were children...
They fought together.
Volkov calmly walked away from the battle.
He wasn't retreating.
He was leading them exactly where he wanted them.
Emily noticed first.
"He's drawing us deeper inside."
Walker looked at the digital map on his wrist.
"He's heading toward the central control room."
Victoria stepped out from cover.
"Then that's where we finish this."
They pushed forward through corridor after corridor.
Every room revealed more of Eclipse.
Encrypted servers.
Stacks of cash.
False passports.
Weapons destined for criminal organizations across the world.
Emily looked around in disbelief.
"This wasn't just an empire."
"It was an entire shadow government."
Victoria's expression hardened.
"And today..."
"...it ends."
Suddenly, the lights flickered.
A calm voice echoed through hidden speakers.
"Emily."
She froze.
It was Volkov.
"You've spent your career believing justice always wins."
His voice echoed again.
"Tell me..."
"How many innocent people died while you chased me?"
Emily clenched her jaw.
Walker spoke quietly.
"Ignore him."
But Volkov continued.
"And Victoria..."
"You believe you're different from your father."
"You aren't."
Victoria didn't answer.
She simply kept walking.
Emily reached over and squeezed her hand for a brief moment.
Volkov saw everything through the security cameras.
Even that.
He smiled.
"So that's your strength."
The team reached a massive steel door.
Above it, silver letters read:
CENTRAL COMMAND
Walker nodded.
"This is it."
Luca placed a small explosive charge on the locking mechanism.
"Stand back."
A loud explosion echoed through the complex.
The heavy door burst inward.
Smoke drifted across the room.
When it cleared...
Volkov was standing alone in the center of the command room.
No guards.
No weapons in his hands.
Only a chessboard resting on a large wooden table.
He slowly moved a single black chess piece.
"Check."
Victoria stepped forward, her pistol aimed directly at him.
"The game's over."
Volkov looked at her with an almost sympathetic expression.
"No."
He glanced toward Emily.
"It ends when one of you chooses duty..."
"...over love."
Emily frowned.
"What are you talking about?"
Volkov pressed a button hidden beneath the table.
A giant screen lit up behind him.
Live security footage filled the room.
Father Michael.
Dozens of FBI agents.
Civilians.
All locked inside different sections of the underground complex.
A timer flashed in the corner.
09:59
Volkov folded his hands behind his back.
"You can save them..."
"...or you can stay here and arrest me."
He smiled.
"You don't have time to do both."
The timer ticked down.
09:58.
09:57.
Emily and Victoria exchanged a single look.
Without speaking...
They both knew the hardest decision of the entire war had just begun.
