Rain poured over New York City, turning the streets into shimmering rivers of light.
Victoria Moretti stood alone on the balcony of the Moretti estate, the cold drops soaking her black suit. She didn't move.
Pain had taught her long ago that storms eventually passed.
Betrayal didn't.
"Miss Moretti."
She turned.
Luca, her most trusted bodyguard, approached with a serious expression.
"We found him."
Victoria's eyes narrowed.
"The traitor?"
Luca nodded.
"He was trying to sell information about our shipments."
Silence filled the air.
"Bring him to the warehouse."
An hour later...
The abandoned warehouse echoed with terrified breathing.
The man was tied to a chair, shaking uncontrollably.
"I'm sorry... please..."
Victoria slowly walked toward him.
"You were family."
"I... I had no choice."
"There is always a choice."
She looked into his frightened eyes.
"I built this empire with loyalty."
"You chose greed."
Victoria turned away.
"I won't stain my hands today."
She looked at Luca.
"You know what to do."
As she walked out of the warehouse, a single gunshot echoed through the night.
She never looked back.
Meanwhile...
Emily Carter sat in front of a wall covered with photographs, maps, and evidence.
The Moretti family.
Drug routes.
Money laundering.
Missing witnesses.
She studied Victoria's file once again.
Nothing made sense.
Every witness disappeared.
Every investigation failed.
Every officer who came close hit a dead end.
Emily folded her arms.
"There has to be a weakness."
Her phone rang.
"Agent Carter."
A voice answered immediately.
"We have a homicide."
"Possible connection to the Moretti organization."
Emily grabbed her jacket.
"This could be our first real lead."
She rushed out of FBI Headquarters, unaware that she was heading toward the very crime scene Victoria had left only minutes earlier.
For the first time...
Their worlds were only blocks apart.
