My appointment is taking forever!
I'd booked it for 2 pm so I'd have time to go home, get ready, and head out to dinner with my fiancé.
Look, I know they're packed, but I arrived ten minutes early, and now it's 2:45 pm. My stress levels are rising, so I've decided to stand just outside the entrance, where I can still hear my name being called.
All I want is to get my freaking eyebrows waxed!
I'm staring at my phone, scrolling through Instagram, when someone bumps into me from behind. I look up just as I feel someone's hands trying to snatch my phone.
"What the hell?" I snap, spinning around.
Standing behind me is a young girl with a cheeky smile plastered across her face. She's still holding her hand out as though she's about to have another go at stealing my phone.
"Excuse me! What exactly do you think you're trying to do?" I demand.
Her smile grows wider.
"You know what I'm trying to do. I want your phone."
She reaches for it again.
This time, I catch her wrist with my free hand.
"Ouch!" she screeches.
I almost let go, but then I tighten my grip.
"You know, kids like you never learn until someone teaches you a lesson," I growl.
The girl yanks her arm backwards so hard that I eventually release it. She stumbles away from me.
"Bitch!" she screams.
She storms off, pulling out her own phone and taking pictures of me as she goes. She's yelling that her friends are going to find me and pay me a visit.
I wave her off and turn my attention back to the salon.
Honestly, what is wrong with people?
"Jenni!" an employee finally calls out.
Ugh, finally, I think to myself.
Today has been so weird!
Earlier, when I'd first walked into the Village, our large shopping centre here in Ballarat, I'd passed someone who had the most disgusting smell radiating off them.
It was absolutely foul.
For a split second, I'd honestly thought I was walking past a corpse.
The person looked almost normal, but something about them seemed off. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was.
I remember wrinkling my nose and moving away as quickly as possible.
At the time, I'd thought nothing more of it.
Now, after the incident with the girl and the ridiculous wait for my appointment, I just want to go home.
I finish getting my eyebrows waxed, pay, and head straight for the exit.
Finally!
I check my phone.
3:20 pm.
You've got to be kidding me.
I check my Uber app and see that my driver is waiting outside the main entrance.
Thank God for that.
