Andrew and I take a seat on the bench in the backyard. "So?Elle?" he asks curiously. "Oh,that's just a nickname James gave me when we were little," I reply,"I was?ten years old?I think? As you know,my dad left us when I was eight, and when the other kids found out about it,well?you know how kids are. Anyway, this one boy,Thomas, was exceptionally focused on bullying me. I was smaller than most kids my age, making me an easier target. One day,Thomas just pushed me off the swing, without any reason, and called me hideous names. I came home with a scraped knee, refusing to talk to anyone for days and locking myself in my room. My mom knew James and I were inseperable,so in an attempt to make me talk, she invited James over. When he asked me what's wrong,I started crying and told him everything. He ended up telling me that I shouldn't care about what other thought of me. He then gave me the nickname 'Elle',saying that it's just as unique as I am,and whenever I needed a reminder,I just have to think of that moment. I went to school the next day, only to find Thomas with a black eye. Since James was the only one I had told,I immediately knew it was him. I didn't tell anyone, knowing that James could get in trouble, especially since he's two years older than us."
"I'm sorry that happened to you,Elle," Andrew says, giving a sympathetic look. I give him a smile,"That's okay,it's in the past." Somehow,I didn't like the idea of Andrew calling me 'Elle'.
"So what did you want to talk to me about?" I ask, "It sounded serious." "Well, you've been acting weird lately. So I did some digging, and I heard that you saw me with some girl?" Huh. I wonder where he got that information. "Anyway,I just wanted to clear the air,you know. And make sure everything was alright between us?" he says. I completely forgot about the whole situation. "Yeah,we're cool," I reply. "That's good, because?I've missed talking to you?" he says as he puts a strand of hair behind my ear. "Umm,yeah me too?" I say uncomfortably, fiddling with my fingers. "You know,I've never met anybody like you Elle. You're the most amazing girl I've ever met. And I?" He doesn't finish the sentence, and before I know it,his lips meet mine.
*James POV*
I've searched everywhere. It's like she's completely disappeared. I've run out of places to look. Natalie approaches me. "Did you find her?" I ask. "No,but she's probably with Andrew, because I don't see him either," she replies. A wave of jealousy spreads over me. The thought of him being with her didn't put me at ease?AT ALL. "Let's just keep looking," I say angrily, moving to the back of the house. As I pass the back door,I hear her voice. I decide to eavesdrop (yeah I know, not my proudest moment). I hear Andrew talking to hear, and as I peek,I see him going in for a kiss, causing my heart to drop. I start to feel anger rushing through my entire body, and before I know it,I find myself rushing through the crowd of people, running out the door, furious about what I just saw.
