The week passes quickly and before I knew it,the day of James's party arrives. The plan was to keep him distracted,so that our mom's could get everything ready for the party. I knew it would be tricky,so I decided to get Natalie involved.
I met up with Natalie at the local barbershop, since her dad owned the place. We go over the plan again. "Okay,so we'll drive to James's house ,then we'll knock on the door. When he opens it, we'll?" "WE'LL THROW A HOOD OVER HIS HEAD THEN STASH HIM IN THE BOOT,CAUSING HIM TO PANIC," she says with an emotionless look in her eye, causing me to take a step back. "N..no? I'll introduce you to him,and ask him POLITELY if he wants to go rollerskating with us," I say calmly. "Aww your plan is no fun," she says pouting, folding her arms, " But I guess it could work." We then hop in the car,and drive off to James.
As we arrive,we get out of the car. We walk up to the front door, and ring the doorbell. Natalie then opens her purse, showing me a beanie. "I brought it as a plan B. You know?to pull over his face?"she says raising her eyebrows. "Natalie! I told you?". Before I could finish my sentence,James opens the door. "Hello ladies, what can I do for you?" he says smiling. "Hey James, this is Natalie," I answer. Natalie holds out her hand. "Enchante," she says, batting her eyes. My eyes widen, then I look at James and laugh nervously. "Hello..Natalie?" he says, uncomfortably shaking her hand. "Anyways," I say interruptingly, "we are going rollerskating and we were wondering if you'd like to join us?". "Umm,sure, let me just grab my coat," he replies, going back inside. "Wow,you weren't kidding when you said he was hot,is it too late to switch sides?" Natalie whispers. "I NEVER SAID HE?" Just as I want to complete my sentence,James reappears. "You girls ready to go?" he asks. "Yep,all set," I reply akwardly, hoping he didn't hear what Natalie said. We then make our way to the car.
Everything goes according to plan, and seemingly,James doesn't suspect a thing.
The rollerskating rink was a disaster for me though. At first,I thought I was getting the hand of it. You only have to have good balance, which I thought I did. This has just proven me wrong. I fell flat on my face three times. James came rushing to my side everytime, while Natalie just stood there, laughing her butt off. James had to hold me back, stopping me from killing her with a rollerblade.
The time quickly passes. Soon enough it's time for us to go to the party. We gather our stuff and make up an excuse, saying that there is an emergency with one of the?"LAWNMOWERS" Natalie swiftly replies.LAWNMOWERS?OF ALL THE POSSIBLE OBJECTS IN THE WORLD SHE CHOOSES A LAWNMOWER AS AN EXCUSE?! "Y?yeah, with the lawnmowers?" I reply, hoping to salvage the situation. James looks at me with curiosity, then replies,"But you don't have a lawnmower?""LawnmowERS," Natalie interrupts, making him even more suspicious. "LET'S JUST GO FIX THE PROBLEM," I say nervously in a high pitched voice, causing both Natalie and James to look at me like I'm crazy. "Let's go," I say smiling. We walk to the car,get in and drive off.
