SUNSET WALK
The sun was setting as sailboats drifted by while the sound of waves were crashing on the shore. Subtle conversation and laughter filled the air while a live band was playing in the Lunar Lounge on the boardwalk, the music could be heard in the distance on a warm summer evening.
There was a calmness in the night as Mila strolled the beach. A warm gentle breeze against her skin felt soothing as she searched for the prettiest and most colorful seashells she could find. The water felt refreshing on her legs as she embraced the tranquility of the night walk while reflecting on her busy day as a photographer. The view was breathtaking, as she watched the sunset over the water glistening with the moon illuminating the night sky and quickly captured the quiet moments of the evening with her camera. The beauty that surrounded her were astoundingly vivid with colors of a rainbow that will make for some stunning photographs.
Mila walked back to the blanket and saw her fiancee Mateo sitting there. “Hi Tay” she liked to call him. “Hi Mila” as he greeted his green eyed, red headed beauty with a long passionate kiss and warm embrace and said “Let’s enjoy watching the sunset together as it’s so captivating in the moonlight.” Mila said, “It sure is and makes you feel closer to nature and in awe of the inspiring scenery all around.” “This sunset is as breathtaking as you are Mila.” “Awwww, you are a gentle, heartwarming and hopeless romantic Tay.” He gave her a smile to melt her heart as she couldn’t help herself but lovingly stare at her tall, dark, handsome fireman with deep blue eyes as the ocean waters. They lied on the blanket and embraced one another with a deep romantic long kiss not letting their Fire and Desire overpower them and lose control. Her engagement ring sparkled as a shining star, and their hopes and dreams of a clean and bright future together continue to flourish while making new memories as their deep love grows and feelings they share intensifies.
Mila mentioned, “This is turning out to be a romantic evening.” Tay said, “Let’s go for a moonlight swim!” They wrapped their arms around each other and gazed into each other’s eyes and headed for the water. They held each other tightly in the water ending with a long wet kiss and then started clowning around. “Mila you are splashing and laughing uncontrollably, and I feel we are causing a scene,” Mateo said. “I don’t care, I’m having too much fun, we are in our own little world so it doesn’t matter to either of us one bit, right Tay?” “right Mila, I can hardly speak from all this laughing and water in my mouth, so we better get control over ourselves and walk back to the blanket, so grab my hand and we will dry each other off and we can then go to the Lunar Lounge for a drink.” “Ooooh, oh yeah!! sounds fun, I want a Pina Colada.” Before the sun sets completely though, I want to get in a few more shots.” “sounds good to me, my love.”
We suddenly heard screams coming from the boardwalk area, the band stopped playing and people were running onto the beach. People just froze and were looking all around.. A couple on the beach were frantically yelling, “the Lunar Lounge was just robbed!” They were looking around for anyone running away or looking suspicious. There was so much chaos and commotion that I tried to capture as many shots as I could by being discreet, as there was a crowd forming in an area where people were trying to figure out what just happened. It was an intense scene as the couple that yelled seemed visibly shaken and very excited and nervous. They were trembling and flustered as they explained to the crowd what they just saw, “There was a robbery, gunshots and someone was bleeding badly!” Mila said, “I can now hear an ambulance with sirens on the way, but there are no police yet on the beach just on the boardwalk.” Mila and TY just looked at each other and said “What just happened, this is intense!” The crowd was still agitated and unnerved by the events unfolding. In a matter of time, the crowd dissipated very quickly. The couple also grabbed their beach bags and blankets and headed out too saying “Let’s get out of here, that was too close.” “Come TY, we will follow right behind them, I’ll pack up my camera and you gather up all of our belongings, let’s hurry and high tail it out of here!!” “This certainly ruined the mood and spoiled our night, didn’t it Mila, this is unbelievable!” “This is wild Ty.”
We ended up parking close to the couple who saw what happened. They didn’t speak much other than reiterating what happened earlier and how upset and uncomfortable they were now feeling. We noticed how they watched us put all of our things away while we got in our car. They were staring at me since I had my camera around my neck. “They yelled to us to drive home safely.” “We both yelled back, you too.” On our way home after driving for several minutes, Ty told me, “ I am nervous, they seemed to be following us, I am very uneasy about this, so I will pull into the nearest restaurant and we will try and calm down and have a cup of coffee.” They pulled in as well, close enough to us that we had to go by their car. I told Ty I had a plan, “I pretended to drop something by their car and memorized their license plate number and quickly put it in my phone.” After several minutes, we could see them still sitting in their car and laughing. Apparently, they were more calm than us by now, I said to Ty, “How can they be laughing after everything that just happened? I am a nervous wreck.” “It makes no sense Mila, I don’t get it either.” A police cruiser just happen to pull up, and the car left promptly. We spoke to the police officer and told them everything we knew as well as the car that followed us here. We were advised to go to the station as soon as we can to make a statement and Ty said, “we plan on coming in soon.” After several minutes, the police officer left. Mila mentioned again to me, “this couple following us seems very strange and suspicious, and my gut feeling is something isn’t right.” As we left the restaurant, Ty said, “I see the couple in the same car across the other side of the lot.” “Let’s hurry back into the restaurant!” I frantically told him. The couple got out of their car making their way toward us and definitely making us feel petrified.
Chapter 2 will take them for a ride they didn’t see coming, see how this mystery couple will shake things up for them.
