Chapter 1

April 1718, Brandenburg Prussia. It was a warm spring Sunday. Sitting in the front row of the church wearing a white dress was a girl named Elise. She was beautiful with fair-skin, green eyes and wavy burgundy hair. She was sitting, half-listening to her father's sermon. Many people thought life as a pastor's daughter was easy, but Elise begged to differ. She was the youngest of two girls, and instead of waiting for a son, her father, pastor Klaus, decided that Elise would take over his church. She spent most of her days studying the bible while her older sister, Agatha, got to do what she wanted. Agatha already married an Aristocrat and had a daughter, but that doesn't wasn't good enough for Klaus. Money and status meant nothing to him.

After church, Elise went outside and caught a glimpse of a man wearing black and went to investigate. When she got closer, she bumped into this tall and handsome man. He had black hair, fair skin, gray eyes and a strong chiseled jawline with a scruffy beard.

"Oh dear, my apologies, I didn't see you," he apologized with a deep accented voice. Elise couldn't help but blush

"Oh, it's fine. If you don't mind me asking, where are you from?" Elise asked, trying to hold back her blush but failed.

"I'm Samuel, and I'm from Bethlehem" he explained. Elise's ears perked up upon hearing that.

"Bethlehem? As in the city Jesus was born it?" She excitedly asked.

"indeed" he nodded, finding Elise's excitement cute.

"I have so many questions! Is it really as great as holy as I'm told?" Elise asked, unable to hold in her excitement any longer.

"Come with me and I'll tell you everything your heart desires" Samuel smirked, putting an arm around Elise. He then led her away from the church and Elise was too awestruck to stop him.

Hell is described in many ways but everyone can agree it's a place full of despair and sorrow. The angel of death, Azrael, was walking through dark barren forest, having finished escorting a soul here. As he entered the second circle, he noticed someone was missing. He noticed a naked woman with long pinkish-brown hair, sitting on a rock. Her torso and hips are decorated with a black rope harness. It was none other than Lilith, the first woman. Azrael approached her, his face neutral as he usually was.

"Lilith," he called out to get the succubi's attention. She looked up at him, scowling as expected.

"Oh, its you," she grumbled, looking at him with disgust. Azrael looked around for any sign of the man he was looking for, then looked back at Lilith.

"Where's Samael?" he asked.

"I was about to ask you that," Lilith said, flipping her hair. "We got into an argument and he ran off somewhere like the coward he is," She explained. Azrael narrowed his eyes, his face turning serious. This could mean two things, Samael was in a different circle or he somehow made his way back to earth.

"I should get back to heaven," he said, jumping into the air. His black wings stretched out as he flew off, the wind rushing past strong enough to knock down Lilith and get her sucked into the tornado.

"Thanks a lot, you asshole!" Lilith shouted, watching Azrael fly off.

When Azrael returned to heaven, he quickly searched for one of the other archangels. He saw Michael sitting on a rock, observing his dogs and wolves playing.

"Brother Micha'el, I have some concerning news," Azrael quickly said. Sensing the urgency in his voice, Michael stood up and came closer.

"It's regarding Samael, when I traveled to hell today I noticed he wasn't around. Lilith explained that they got into an argument and he ran off somewhere," Azrael told him. Michael's expression darkened at the news.

"Samael ran off? That's not like him," he said, narrowing his eyes. "He's up to something, I can feel it." Azrael nodded in agreement.

"I'll go and ask father what we should do, you inform the other archangel," Micha'el ordered. Azrael nodded and flew off while Micha'el made his way to the throne room.
