The grand command bridge of the Sol-Invictus was a tiered amphitheater of polished solar orichalcum and starlight crystal, suspended three miles above the flagship’s flared dorsal prow.
Through the three-story panorama of reinforced diamond-glass, the freezing dark of the Kuiper Belt was transformed into a blazing arena of cosmic warfare.
Beneath Seraphina’s boots, the five-mile flagship hummed with thermonuclear vitality. Across the outer perimeter, the remaining forty-nine super-dreadnoughts of the Legion of the Gilded Wing had shed their ancient nitrogen ice.
Their five-mile falcon hulls burned with radiant golden dawn, their interlocking solar sails spreading wide like the wings of celestial raptors.
Seraphina stood at the forward tactical hololith, flanked by General Aurelius and Kaelen Vance.
Her white dragon-scale armor gleamed under the warm bridge chandeliers, the Crown of Caelum upon her brow casting golden geometric battle-grids across the three-dimensional fleet display.
"The Black Armada has initiated emergency boarding withdrawals," General Aurelius reported, his deep, disciplined voice echoing across the command deck as his armored fingers manipulated the tactical runes.
"Dread-Lord Malakor has pulled sixty dreadnoughts into a concentrated defensive wedge. Their primary weapon-spires are charging their dark-matter siege mortars—they intend to shatter the Kuiper Gate's structural ring to blow us out of the system with the resulting rift!"
"He won't get the chance," Seraphina said, her voice ringing with absolute sovereign clarity.
Her trauma paramedic training took over the grand fleet maneuvers: Prioritize the arterial bleed, neutralize the pathogen, and cut the necrosis out.
She turned to the fleet communications officer.
"Order all fifty super-dreadnoughts to link fire-control through my personal neural matrix. Synchronize targeting vectors to my crest!"
"Acknowledged, High Queen!" the officer roared back.
Beside her, Kaelen moved with chilling, lethal elegance.
He didn't stay on the bridge to observe.
He walked to the forward observation balcony, looking out through the transparent diamond-glass directly at Malakor’s flagship—the Nether-Void, a six-mile monstrosity of barbed obsidian iron that was already firing clusters of anti-matter torpedoes.
"Commander Vane's Astra-Vanguard has engaged their port screening frigates," Kaelen rumbled, his molten silver eyes flashing with sovereign hunger.
His eighty-foot shadow-wings flared inside the bridge, parting the air with a soft sonic boom.
"Aurelius, hold the fleet's defensive screens. Seraphina and I are delivering the opening broadside ourselves."
He turned to Seraphina, his hand reaching out across the command console.
"Give them the Dual Eclipse, little sun. Let the outer dark remember who commands the heavens."
Seraphina locked her fingers with his.
Their clasped hands erupted into an apocalyptic vortex of incandescent white-gold dawn fire and crushing midnight-violet shadow.
The harmonic energy bypassed the ship's physical conduits, feeding directly into the Sol-Invictus’s primary weapon array: the Spire of the Celestial Sun-Lance.
On the dorsal prow of the five-mile flagship, a massive, two-mile barrel of carved celestial crystal extended into the vacuum.
"Fleet-wide synchronization locked!" Seraphina commanded, her amber eyes burning like supernovas. "Fire!"
Fifty super-dreadnoughts fired in absolute, microsecond unison.
Fifty blinding pillars of coherent thermonuclear plasma, each fifty yards wide and wrapped in Kaelen's dark-matter gravity slipstreams, ripped through the freezing silence of the Kuiper Belt.
The kinetic shockwave was so immense it warped the light of distant stars.
The concentrated volley struck the Black Armada’s center line like the fist of an angry god.
Twenty enemy dreadnoughts were vaporized on impact, their four-mile iron hulls disintegrating into expanding rings of white-hot atomized slag before their shields could even register the hit.
The remaining forty enemy vessels were scattered like dead leaves in a gale, their formations shattered as Kaelen's gravity field dragged their damaged hulks into collision courses with each other.
Through the burning graveyard of shattered dreadnoughts, only one vessel maintained its forward thrust: the Nether-Void.
The six-mile flagship emerged from the smoke, its jagged obsidian prow charging straight for the Kuiper Gate’s central control hub.
Atop its armored bridge tower, the towering, shadow-wreathed silhouette of Dread-Lord Malakor could be seen raising his four-bladed Scourge of the Void-Mother, preparing to breach the gate manually.
Kaelen drew Gloom-Weaver, his silver eyes burning with merciless executioner's focus.
"He’s mine," Kaelen snarled.
"Not without me, you don't," Seraphina countered, drawing her twin sunstone daggers as her starlight wings snapped wide.
Kaelen caught her around the waist, pulling her flush against his chest, their lips meeting in a fierce, breathless battle-kiss that tasted of pure adrenaline and eternal victory.
"Then let us butcher this lord of ash together, my Queen."
