Two weeks.
That's how long it had been since Noah slammed the door and left everything shattered behind him.
Since then, nothing had been the same.
Savannah moved in with a friend across town. Jace took the security job two states away. And neither of them had spoken a word to each other since the night they watched Noah walk out.
No texts.
No calls.
No "I miss you."
But every day felt like bleeding from the inside out.
Savannah
She didn't cry until the third day.
Not when she packed her things. Not when her best friend said, "You did what you had to do."
But on day three - when she found the old hoodie Jace used to wear - she fell apart.
She wore it anyway.
It didn't fix the ache in her chest. But it made her feel closer to him. Like maybe he was thinking about her too.
She still hadn't taken it off.
She told herself she was moving on. She went to work. Smiled at people. Pretended like her heart hadn't just been ripped in two.
But at night… she ached for him.
Every inch of her skin remembered his touch.
Every empty moment screamed his name.
Jace's new apartment was bare - a couch, a bed, a job that kept him from thinking too much.
But it didn't work.
He saw her in everything.
The way she smiled. The way she stood her ground. The fire in her that had always drawn him in.
He had her picture in his phone - one he'd taken when she wasn't looking, sunlight hitting her just right.
He stared at it most nights and told himself he'd made the right call. That distance was better. Safer. That he didn't deserve her.
But God, he missed her.
He missed her laugh. Her smart mouth. The way she felt.
And most of all - he missed knowing she was his.
Because now?
She wasn't.
Meanwhile…
Noah hadn't reached out to either of them.
Savannah texted once.
Just a simple, "I'm sorry. I love you. I didn't mean to hurt you."
No reply.
Jace hadn't texted at all.
Because he figured Noah's silence said enough.
But the guilt was eating him alive.
And the only thing worse than hurting Noah…
was living without her.
