The sun hung low over the bustling market, casting golden hues on cobbled streets crowded with life. Stalls overflowed with vibrant fabrics, fragrant spices, and glinting trinkets. Yet, amidst the lively chatter and laughter, four shadows moved silently.
Aryan,Ankit,Shivam and Mithelesh - the Hollows. They were nameless until they gave themselves these titles, the only remnants of individuality they allowed. They walked with their heads bowed, faces obscured by tattered hoods, their steps blending into the noise of the market.
No one looked at them. They didn't want to be seen, believing their gaunt, sunken features were too grotesque for others to bear. Aryan hollow eyes darted to the ground, his thoughts heavy with self-loathing. Rattler's fingers twitched, always fidgeting with the edges of his cloak. Shivam walked with a perpetual slump, as though carrying an invisible weight. Mithelesh silence was her shield, her gaze always lost in some distant void.
"We are nothing," Aryan muttered under his breath. "Not meant for this world."
The others didn't respond. They didn't need to. Their silence spoke louder than words - an echo of agreement that had haunted them for as long as they could remember.
They believed their miserable existence was a punishment, the consequence of sins committed in some forgotten life.
As they wandered aimlessly, a sudden burst of laughter caught their attention. They turned, their hollow hearts skipping a beat, and saw them - four young women, vibrant and radiant, standing by a flower vendor's stall.
The women seemed to glow, their joy as natural as breathing. One of them, with hair like cascading sunlight, leaned in to sniff a bouquet of lilies. Another twirled a vibrant scarf she'd just purchased, her laughter ringing like chimes.
The Hollows froze. Something stirred within them - a warmth they had never felt before, faint yet undeniable.
"What… is this?" Aryan whispered, clutching her chest as if to stop an unfamiliar ache.
Ankit frowned, his hand trembling. "It's… impossible. We can't feel."
And yet, they did.
For the first time, they were drawn not by pity or fear but by curiosity and wonder. Who were these women, and why did their mere presence crack the emptiness inside the Hollows?
Aryan took a hesitant step forward, but the others held him back. "No," Ankit hissed. "We can't. We're... nothing. They'd never - "
But even as the words left his lips, a spark had been ignited.
Could this moment - this fleeting glimpse of beauty and joy - be the beginning of something new? Could love and hope seep into the void that had consumed them for so long?
For the first time, the Hollows didn't have an answer. But deep within, a question began to form: What if?
