Once there lived a strong and wise wolf called Woldy, with his best friend Barty, a giant and playful bear, in a village called Barrowlane.

The village was small, surrounded by colorful trees and a mighty waterfall whose sound could be heard from far away. Barrowlane mostly remains cold throughout the year and decked in snow. Only once in a while does summer come when Barrowlane's trees and flowers dance under the heat of the warm sun.

One cold day, snow fell in the village. Woldy, the wolf, quickly shut off all the doors of his house and lit the fire by the fireplace to keep himself warm.

Then suddenly?

"Woldy," a husky voice called out. "Woldy?"

BAM-BAM-BAM

Woldy heard a loud knock on his door. He quickly ran to open it before his door came crashing down and a cold wind entered his house.

"Friend, where were you?" Barty, the bear, asked, shivering on the doorstep as Woldy opened the door. Before Woldy could invite him in, Barty sneezed so loudly that sticky droplets flew into the air and landed on Woldy's shoulder.

"Barty, are you alright? Come in." Woldy took Barty to the sofa in front of the fireplace and offered him hot chocolate and a blanket to warm him up.

"Thank you, friend," Barty said, sipping his hot chocolate. "It's so cold outside. I forgot to collect wood for the fireplace. And I ran short on woods now."

"It's okay, Barty, you can spend the night here. I have got enough wood to keep us warm the whole night," Woldy suggested.

"Thank you, Woldy, for your offer," Barty said, hiding himself inside the blanket.

"Don't say thank you; that's what friends are for," Woldy said.

A snowstorm now passed. Woldy and Barty decided to turn on their television to watch their favorite show, The Penguin Race.

But before the start of the show, the news came that this night would be the coldest and there would be a big snowstorm. It was advised that everyone should stay indoors and not come out.

"Tonight would be the coldest night," said Woldy.

"Yeah, that's why I don't like winters; you never get enough time to be out on the lake and watch the seagulls," Barty said.

"We should stay inside until summer comes and do something fun. Say what?" Woldy suggested to Barty.

"Yes, we can do many things together. But like what?" Barty asked.

"Why not bake a cake in the shape of our faces?" Woldy said. "And then we can play games together?"

"Yes, that would be fun," said Barty, finishing his hot chocolate, wiping his mouth, and putting down the empty cup.

Later that evening, a loud noise banged on Woldy's wooden house.

CREAK CREAK CREAK

"What is that?" asked Barty, closing his ears.

"Oh, that's just a tree hitting the roof of the house. I think the snowstorm will soon arrive," said Woldy.

"I don't like the sound of that," said Barty. "It is scary."

"Yes, it is," replied Woldy with a thoughtful expression. "I'm worried that someone is stuck outside in this raging storm. That would be really unfortunate."

"Who would want that? Everyone must, like us, sit inside their warm house and sip their hot drink," Barty exclaimed, munching on a cake shaped like his face, baked by him and Woldy in the morning.

A fierce snowstorm raged outside, with loud winds banging the trees against the house. Woldy and Barty looked out the window and saw heavy snow covering everything, even the nearby tree and the lake, swallowed inside the thick blanket of snow. The wind blew more fiercely, blowing snow in all directions.

Then suddenly, a loud bang startled Woldy and Barty.

KNOCK - KNOCK - KNOCK

"Who came at this time?" asked Woldy.

"Don't open the door, Woldy," said Barty. "All the snow will come inside the house".

"But what if someone needs our help?" Woldy said thoughtfully and went to open the door.

With great pressure, Woldy opened the door as it was jammed by the heavy snow outside. But unfortunately, the door hadn't opened.

"Hey, Barty! I need your help to open this door," Woldy called out.

Barty hurried to Woldy's side and grabbed the doorknob, pulling with all his might.

"It's really heavy," Barty squeaked, giving a final powerful tug. Suddenly, the door swung open, sending a rush of snowy wind into the cozy house.

They quickly looked outside, hoping to find someone there, but there was nobody.

Then, they looked down and saw a shivering turtle with snowflakes on its back. "Hello there! Who are you? What are you doing out on this snowy, windy night?" Woldy asked.

"My name is Timmy, and I've lost my way home," said the turtle. "I went out to find some woods and food, hoping to stay safe during the snowstorm. But the snow came down quickly."

"Come inside and stay with us until the snowstorm passes," Woldy warmly invited Timmy the turtle.

"You're so kind. Thank you," said Timmy.

Woldy gently pulled the turtle inside and closed the door.

"Woldy," whispered Barty once Timmy settled in front of the fireplace, "Do we have enough food and wood to stay warm during this snowstorm?"

"Yes, Barty, don't worry. I've collected enough food and wood to last us for weeks," Woldy replied with a smile.

The heavy snowstorm continued for the next three days before finally subsiding. Once the storm calmed down, Timmy the turtle thanked Woldy for his warm hospitality and bid farewell before leaving his house.

Barty, who lived right next door to Woldy, praised Woldy's selflessness, readiness to help others in need, and how he always prepared for adverse situations. They said their goodbyes, promising to reunite in Candyland once summer arrived.
