My name is Liza and this is my story. Twenty years ago I killed my best friend Vera and now I am in the Texas jail serving life imprisonment.
It was the summer of 2004 and it was one month to the long awaited wedding of my best friend "Vera" I was going to be her chief bridesmaid so we were both very busy putting final touches to the wedding arrangements. I have been sad since the day Vera introduced her fiancé "Ken" to me, Ken was everything I had wanted in a man, he was very tall, handsome, rich and caring. I became very Jealous of Vera, I tried all I could do to separate them but northing worked, instead Vera announced her engagement news to me, flaunting her engagement ring to my face and the wedding date was set for the 2nd week of July 2004.
As the wedding date drew closer so was my mind working fast on what to do to stop the wedding. I arrived at a plan, which ended to be the worst mistake of my life. I poisoned and killed my friend "Vera" it was an easy task for me because she love and trusted me so well. I had requested to take some bite from the ice cream she was eating, as she continue to fit on her shoe at the shoe store, she handed the cup of ice cream to me, I took some bite but added a poisonous substance into it before handling it back to her.
As we got to her parents home, she started feeling intense stomach pain, there was no body at home, I washed her cried and rolled on the floor, she was begging me to call the ambulance, I refused and took the phone from her. She begged me to save her life , I could remember her exact words " Liza pls save my life, I am an only child of my Parents, don't let me die" I stood there watching and hoping she dies fast. After lots of struggles she finally died and I ran out of the house immediately, with the hope of making Ken mine for life.
Just few mins after I got home, 2 police men arrived at my door, standing with them was the lady whom we had bought shoes from earlier in the day, she pointed at me saying" that is the lady that added a white substance into her friend's ice cream, I was shocked, I started shivering. The police asked the whereabout of Vera and I lied that I do not know her that we met at the store, just as I was explaining my phone rang, it was Vera's mum crying loud that Vera is dead, the police immediately took the phone from me asking for Vera's mum address, by this time I was already crying and knew it was over for me.
As I sat at the back of the police car I knew it was better for me to confess, slowly I said to the police" please forgive me I killed Vera, just then I passed out.
I have no idea where I was until I found myself handcuffed and sitting along in the jail room. The final judgement was passed on January 21st 2005 and judge sentenced me to life imprisonment.
It's the year 2025 now making it 20 years of my imprisonment, I regret all my actions and I am still mourning my childhood friend "Vera" I really hope she finds a place in her heart to forgive me. Continue to rest in peace Vera, I still miss you.
