Chapter 9: A Race through Time

What followed was a blur of chaos and terror. The monster lunged at us, its claws tearing through the air. We ran, tripping over chains and broken furniture, screaming as it chased us through the mansion. I closed my eyes, rushing as fast as I could. We ran to the garden and headed towards a huge old room. I signal Tom and Rena to hide under the table on the edge. I breathe hard and hold Rena's hand tight. The monster seemed like it had gone, we sat silent for a moment then I rolled my eyes around the room. It was a library, and thousands of book was placed carefully on the tall shelves. Broken window glasses lying everywhere on the floors, pieces of old stuff falling apart, and papers being ripped out of the books. I stood up, relies there were a big boxes on other side of the room

On the table, we found an old grandfather clock with strange symbols carved into its face. Desperate, Rena pressed one of the symbols, and the clock began to chime.

The room spun, the walls melting away like liquid. When we opened our eyes, we were no longer in the mansion. We were in the past.

The mansion was whole again, its walls gleaming and its halls filled with the sounds of laughter. But the laughter quickly turned to screams.
