Ethan's funeral was held on a bright, sunny day. The church was filled to capacity, with people standing in the aisles and spilling out onto the steps outside. Everyone had a story about Ethan's kindness, his generosity, his smile.

"He was a nice man," they all said.

But no one mentioned the sadness Ethan had hidden so well. No one spoke of the burden he had carried alone.

As the sun set over Willow Creek, the town mourned the loss of a man who had given them so much light, never realizing how much he had needed it himself.
