Jay and Mala were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, surrounded by family and friends in a joyful atmosphere. After cutting the cake, their granddaughter, Alka, asked a question that caught everyone's attention.
"Grandma, what's so special about your marriage? Our parents are always fighting and arguing, but we never hear you and Grandpa argue. How is that possible?"
Her question made everyone pause and look toward the couple, eager to know the secret behind their peaceful and happy marriage.
Grandma Mala smiled warmly and replied, "Well, my dear, the secret is simple. We've spent our lives truly investing in understanding each other. We've made it a point to compete with each other, but not in the way you might think. Instead of arguing over who's right or who knows more, we compete to see who can give more love and respect to the other. We've always made it our goal to lift each other up, not to put each other down."
Her words left everyone in the room in awe, and they all realized that the true key to a lasting relationship is mutual love, respect, and a shared commitment to always putting each other first.
