He looked at me. I can see in his eyes the pain and the hurt as if I were there when it happened.

"She hurt you so now your taking that pain and punishing me." I said in a stern tone.

"How would you even know, you wouldn't understand and if I tried to tell you, you'd leave just like the rest making you no different!" Jared looked away full of regret for even allowing me in. He knew he shouldn't have but he did. 

6 months earlier……

"Kelsey wake up!" 

As I open my eyes I see a figure staring at me. Trying to adjust my focus it's Jasmine. Uggh she knows I hate being woken up before my alarm. Rolling back over pulling the blanket over my head, "what do you want?" 

Jasmine plumps down on the bed, " Kevin is waiting in the living room for you did you forget you had a date tonight?"

I shot up in bed," how long had I been out for?"

"You been sleeping for nearly twelve hours, want me to tell him you'll reschedule?"

I had totally forgot that Jasmine had arranged for me to meet Jared. With working overtime at work and losing sleep I barely have time to keep tabs on when the last time I ate was. I had finally had a day off in two weeks and to be able to catch up on sleep it felt really good. I felt bad if I canceled I mean he is already here waiting.

"Tell him I'll be ready in thirty and if he don't like it he knows where the door is at." Laughing Jasmine said, " I'll ask him if he has thirty minutes to spare you’re the one who's late after all. Besides take it easy on him, I know the last one hurt you, but not all men are like him."

Rolling my eyes I get out of bed and take a quick shower and get cleaned up. From brushing my teeth to fixing my hair and makeup I ask myself what is the point? He's just going to leave or cheat anyway. As I put on my red sundress and white heels I leave the bedroom and head straight for the living room. Sure enough Jared was still waiting. He was good looking I'll give him credit where it's due. His light skin tone and curly hair with coco brown eyes, he was a gorgeous man and I could see why Jasmine insisted on us going out after all he was new at her job and didn't know anyone and I had recently moved here three months back and came across a ROOMATE WANTED add. Jasmine and I got along pretty well normally it's hard for females to live together but in this case we were a lot alike so I stayed. 

"Hi, I'm Jared. It's a pleasure to meet you." He extended his hand. I shook his hand, " Kelsey, like wise. Sorry it took me so long to get ready, I was exhausted and over slept." He looked at me with understanding eyes. " It's ok, no need to be sorry it happens to the best of us. You look stunning."

As I locked the door behind us I already know this might be a good night just go out and enjoy it.

As we take our seat in the restaurant, I could tell he was a little nervous. I wonder what she had told him. We had placed our order, I had gotten the shrimp alfredo with mushrooms and garlic cheese sauce and  Jared had ordered the steak with potatoes and side of broccoli. We talked and laughed it seemed to be going well the connection we had seemed so real the way he  would look at me and smile gave me butterflies, I have never connected with someone on this level of understanding before. He was sweet and funny not what I had expected I guess that’s what I get for judging before I got to know him. It's like time stood still we had been here for nearly two and a half hours where has time gone. 

"Are you ready to go? Maybe we have time to catch a movie still." Jared asked and I think that was his cue of letting me know he didn't want it to end as much as I didn’t want it too."

"Yeah, that sounds great." I said through a smile.

We got in line and paid for the tickets and took our seats. The movie was alright little bit of some jump scares it wasn't really all that scary. As the movie has ended we went outside the theater to his car and talked for awhile our smiles never faded. We had nearly sat and talked about every little thing from growing up to today's society to our likes and dislikes, laughing the night away. Jared looked my way and I can tell by his gaze where it was going next. My smile had faded as I leaned in to meet him half way, our lips connected with a slight touch. Butterflies fluttering in my stomach, he pulled me in closer. His kisses being so passionate and deep I lost train of thought. 

Something was happening, a shock between us that sent me flying through the parking lot. A flashback, what was going on. I seen Jared's face  our bodies next to each other as he rolled over in bed and kissed me so gracefully. I was happy I pulled him in closer it's as if we were on our honeymoon. I snapped out of it and came back to reality.

"Jared did you …"

"I seen it!" Jared looked at me as if he knew what was about to happen next.
