In the quiet town of Oakwood, nestled among the whispering pines, there stood an old, decrepit house at the edge of the forest. It was rumored to be haunted, but Sarah, a curious young woman, paid no heed to the warnings.

One stormy night, craving a late-night snack, Sarah ventured into the kitchen. As she rummaged through the pantry, she heard a faint scratching sound coming from the cellar. Ignoring it, she continued her search until she found a can of soup.

As she heated the soup on the stove, the scratching grew louder, more insistent. Unease crawled up Sarah's spine, but she dismissed it as her imagination playing tricks on her.

Just as she was about to take her first spoonful, the power went out, plunging the kitchen into darkness. Heart pounding, Sarah fumbled for her phone, using its flashlight to guide her way. But as the light pierced the darkness, she saw something that made her blood run cold.

In the beam of her flashlight, she caught sight of long, bony fingers reaching out from the cellar door, their nails scraping against the wood. Frozen with fear, Sarah watched as the door creaked open, revealing a shadowy figure lurking in the depths below.

With a chilling whisper, the figure beckoned her closer, promising her a taste of the most delectable snack she had ever known. But as Sarah stepped closer, she realized the horrifying truth - the figure was not offering her food, but offering her as food.

With a scream, Sarah turned and fled, racing through the darkness of the house, the creature's laughter echoing in her ears. She burst through the front door and into the stormy night, never looking back.

From that day on, the old house stood abandoned, its secrets buried deep within its walls. But the memory of that late-night snack would haunt Sarah forever, a reminder of the darkness that lurked just beyond the safety of the kitchen.
