The train to the wedding was packed with chatter and laughter. I was with my aunt and a friend, enjoying the journey, when I noticed her - a woman I vaguely recognized. She seemed off, her movements erratic, her eyes darting around as if she were out of place.
"Are you okay?" I asked, unable to hold back my curiosity.
She looked at me, her voice trembling. "Everything happening now… it all happened yesterday."
Her words sent a chill down my spine, but my aunt dismissed her as confused. My gut told me otherwise. Time travel. The thought seemed ridiculous, but her words, her demeanor - it all fit.
Before I could press her further, she vanished into thin air.
Minutes later, she reappeared, strapped to a futuristic device - a VR-like headset with a jetpack. Beside her was a young girl, equally bewildered. A man, who seemed to be their handler, stepped away momentarily. My curiosity overwhelmed me. Against my better judgment, I approached the device, touched it, and activated it.
In a flash, I, the woman - now revealed to be a scientist - and the girl were flung into the future.
