Among them is Abraham Wayne, an eighteen-year-old young man burdened by a dark secret-he bears a demon seal that binds him to Aymon, a cunning and powerful entity who offers him both strength and chaos. As Abraham navigates the treacherous world of enslavement, he finds unexpected allies in Sarah Carter, a spirited young woman with the gift of water manipulation, and her brother Jamal, who commands the fierce powers of thunder and fire. Together, they must harness their Orisha abilities to escape the shackles of their captors and confront the demons-both literal and metaphorical-that threaten to consume them. But as Abraham grapples with his bond to Aymon, he faces a choice: embrace the dark power that could set him free or risk everything to hold onto his humanity. Will they rise together against their oppressors, or will the weight of their burdens tear them apart? Chapter 8 : Embers of Rebellion

## Chapter Title: Embers of Rebellion

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting the plantation in shadows, the trio's hearts raced with a mix of fear and exhilaration. Abraham, Sarah, and Jamal stood at the edge of the woods, the weight of their plans pressing heavily on their shoulders. Tonight was the night they would reclaim their freedom - no matter the cost.

"Are we ready?" Abraham asked, his voice steady but laced with urgency. The power of Aymon stirred within him, a dark yet intoxicating force that flickered just beneath the surface.

Jamal clenched his fists, determination blazing in his eyes. "Ready as we'll ever be. But we need to create a diversion. We can't just slip away unnoticed."

"I can summon fire," Jamal declared, his voice firm. "It'll draw attention and give us the cover we need to escape."

"Are you sure about this? It's dangerous," Sarah cautioned, her brow furrowed with concern. "Fire spreads quickly."

"I know the risks," Jamal replied, his tone resolute. "But we need to make a statement. They've taken enough from us. It's time to fight back."

With a final nod of agreement, they crept toward the edge of the plantation. The night was alive with the sounds of crickets and distant rustling, but the oppressive atmosphere loomed over them like a dark cloud. They moved swiftly, their hearts pounding in unison.

As they reached the barn, Jamal focused his energy, feeling the warmth of Aymon stirring within Abraham, the demon's essence intertwining with his own resolve. Tonight, they would unleash a force that could not be contained.

"Now!" Abraham urged, channeling the power of Aymon in tandem with Jamal's fiery intent. Flames erupted from Jamal's hands, swirling like a living entity, hungry for release.

With a fierce thrust, he hurled the flames toward the dry hay stacked inside the barn. The fire ignited with a ferocious roar, consuming the structure in an instant. The orange glow illuminated their faces, and the heat washed over them like a wave.

Chaos erupted in the plantation as shouts filled the air. "Fire! Fire!" came the frantic cries of the overseers, their panic palpable.

"Let's move!" Sarah shouted, grabbing Abraham's hand as they dashed toward the woods, the flames lighting their path behind them.

They raced through the underbrush, adrenaline coursing through their veins. The crackling of the fire mixed with the sounds of confusion from the plantation, and for a moment, they felt a surge of hope. The night was alive with their defiance.

But as they reached the tree line, Abraham felt a pull within him. Aymon surged to the forefront, eager to unleash chaos. "Let me out, Abraham," the demon whispered, its voice a seductive hiss. "Together, we can burn this place to the ground."

"No," Abraham replied, gritting his teeth. "We're not here to destroy everything. We're here to escape and free others!"

The struggle within him was fierce, the dark energy threatening to take control. But he pushed it down, focusing on the mission at hand.

As they continued to run, they heard the sounds of pursuit behind them - shouts, footsteps, and the crack of branches. They had to move faster. Suddenly, a figure stepped into their path, and they skidded to a halt.

A woman, her face streaked with dirt and desperation, emerged from the shadows. "Please!" she cried, her voice trembling. "Help me! I can't leave my baby!"

"Kona Lee!" Sarah gasped, recognizing the woman from the fields. The young mother's eyes were wide with fear and determination. In her arms, she cradled a small bundle, a tiny face peeking out into the night.

"Help me save him!" Kona Lee pleaded, her voice breaking. "His name is Henry. I can't let them take him - he deserves a chance!"

The urgency of the moment struck them all. They were already risking their lives, and now another soul depended on them. "We can't leave him behind," Jamal said, his voice filled with conviction. "We have to help."

"Alright," Abraham said, feeling the weight of responsibility settle on his shoulders. "We'll take him. But we need to be quick."

With gentle hands, they took little Henry from Kona Lee, wrapping him in a piece of cloth they had scavenged from the cabin. They quickly fed him some herbs that Sarah had learned about, hoping to calm him for the journey ahead, and managed to find a small amount of milk from a nearby goat pen.

As they prepared to flee again, Sarah looked at Kona Lee. "We need to find a safe place for all of us. I've heard whispers of a family in Maryland who helps those seeking freedom. They might take us in."

"Then that's our goal," Abraham affirmed, feeling the fire of determination reignite within him. "We need to move now."

As they slipped back into the darkness of the woods, the sounds of the plantation faded behind them, but the weight of their mission pressed heavily on their hearts. They had taken a child into their care, and now their freedom was intertwined with his future.

But unbeknownst to them, shadows lurked deeper in the woods - figures that watched and waited. An Order had been set in motion, one bent on controlling the enslaved Africans and harnessing their powers for their own greed. They would stop at nothing to reclaim what they believed was theirs, and the trio's escape was only the beginning of a much darker struggle.

As they forged ahead, the path to freedom shimmered with hope, but the lurking dangers were ever-present, ready to strike when they least expected it. The journey had just begun, and the fight for their lives - and for little Henry's future - would test their strength and resolve in ways they could never imagine.
