Veer had promised her love, protection, and a life away from his dark world. But some promises were easier said than kept.
The night before the wedding, she found herself standing on the palace balcony, staring at the moonlit city. A soft breeze lifted her veil, carrying the scent of jasmine and something else - danger.
"You're awake late," Veer's deep voice cut through the silence.
She turned to find him leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed, his intense gaze fixed on her. He looked breathtaking in his black sherwani, the moon casting silver highlights in his sharp features.
"I couldn't sleep," she admitted. "Too much on my mind."
He stepped closer, his fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. "Tell me."
She hesitated. "Do you really think we can have a normal life? No enemies, no bloodshed?"
His jaw tightened. "I'll burn the whole world if it means keeping you safe, Meera."
She shivered - not from fear, but from the weight of his words.
Just then, his phone rang. Veer ignored it, but the persistent vibration made Meera glance at the screen. A name flashed - Rana.
Veer cursed under his breath and answered, his voice cold. "Speak."
Meera couldn't hear the other side, but the tension in Veer's body told her enough.
"Tomorrow, during the wedding," Rana's voice sneered through the speaker, "I'll make sure your love story ends in blood."
The line went dead.
Meera's breath hitched. "Veer - "
He crushed the phone in his fist. "No one will touch you."
But deep down, Meera knew - the storm was coming. And this time, love alone wouldn't be enough to save them .
