1. Is there a fee for joining Short Story Lovers as an author?

No, there is absolutely no fee for becoming an author on Short Story Lovers. In fact, we help authors in making some money in their process of writing.

2. Then what is the $24/year subscription fee for?

The subscription fee is for readers, which gives them unlimited access to our database of stories. When you create an account, the first 7 days is free. After that, there is a yearly subscription fee of $24. 
Note: Authors also need to buy a subscription to read stories from other members.

3. How can I submit my story?

To submit a story, click on "Add New Story" button in your Dashboard or Click Here. You will be asked to create an account if you haven't done so already. Use the online content submission tool to write your story or simply copy and paste it into the content area. Your story will be saved as a draft until you are ready to submit it. Once you are done, click 'publish' to submit it for evaluation. Your story may be published, rejected, or returned to you for revisions.

4. Do you accept submissions in all genres?

Yes, we accept all genres. Click on the 'Categories' button on the website to see a list of available genres.

5. What is the word limit for stories on Short Story Lovers?

The preferred word limit is 400-15000 words, but we are flexible as long as the story is not too short or too long.

6. Can I submit a series of short stories as separate chapters?

No, we do not accept stories in parts or as a series. Each story must be complete.

7. Is mature content accepted?

We do accept mature content, but it should not be too explicit. 
Note: We do not accept erotic, porn, or sex stories.

8. Can I add any images within my story, as illustrations?

You cannot add images to the body of your short story, but you can add a cover image.

9. How do I add a cover image for my story?

Before adding a cover image, please note that it is required to include the title of the story and the name of the author on the cover image.

The steps to add a cover image are as follows:

Step 1: On the submission page, click the 'Upload your Cover image' button to choose an image from your computer, or click the 'Create your own Cover image' button to design one yourself.

Step 2: If you choose to create your own cover image, a dialog box will pop up. Add your preferred background, the title of the story, and the name of the author. Click 'Save' to add the cover image to your story.

10. Can stories that have been published on other platforms be submitted to Short Story Lovers?

While we do accept previously published stories as long as there are no copyright issues, we prefer exclusive content.

11. How long does it take for stories to be reviewed and published on Short Story Lovers?

Due to high volume of submissions and limited editorial staff, we cannot provide a specific response time frame. Typically, it takes us about two weeks to decide whether to publish, reject, or request revisions on a story.

12. How do authors get paid on Short Story Lovers?

We offer two methods of payment for authors:

1. Direct payment link: Each story page includes a direct payment link where readers can support the author by paying through a service like PayPal, BuyMeACoffee, or Ko-fi.com. You will need to create an account with one of these services, as a bank account cannot be used.

2. Royalties: Authors also receive royalties based on the number of views their stories receive.
 

13. I’m unable to read other author’s stories, it seems my membership has expired. How do I renew it?

You can check your membership status on the membership page. It is easy to renew your membership it if it has expired. The link is: https://www.shortstorylovers.com/membership

Please find below the steps to renew your membership:

Step 1: Login to your account. If you are unable to login, please use forget password option and create a new password.

Step 2: Once you log in to your account you will see your Name displaying at the top right corner of the webpage. And there will be a drop-down icon next to it. Once you click on that you will see the ‘My Membership’ tab. Click on that. Alternatively, the link to My Membership page is: https://www.shortstorylovers.com/membership

Step 3: On this page, you will see a button to renew your subscription under ‘Upgrade your Membership’. Click on it and you will see the pricing. Now, click on the yellow button ‘Place Order’. Once you click on it you will be required to enter your billing address and other details in case they have not been added earlier.

Step 4: Once you have filled in the billing details, click on ‘Save and Continue’. You will be redirected to the secure payment gateway page, enter the respective card details and buy the subscription by clicking on the button ‘Make Payment’.

14. Can I change my profile name, after I have created my account?

Yes, you can. Just go to your profile, and click on the button ‘Edit profile’, edit your name and save the changes.
