I met the Devil today while driving home. No, he does not have horns nor does he have a pitchfork. He is a man, an ordinary man that blends in with everyone. He is neither black nor white, but he is a human being. The Devil can control you without you even knowing he is doing it. I was driving on the Interstate and something told me to pull over and pick a hitchhiker up. I would never do this! I told myself. âYou are crazy if you pull over.â Without another thought, I slowed down and pulled over.
The man walked up to the car and asked, âWhere you headed, buddy?â I told him, âI am on my way home.â He got in the car and said, âI believe, I am headed your way.â I pulled back onto the road and never thought about what he said. A few miles down the road, the man began asking me questions. His questions were simple in the beginning, nothing too personal. As time went by the questions began to change.
Have you ever thought about how long a mile is? It seemed like an eternity between mile markers. The man beside me kept asking questions about my life. For the most part, I was happy to answer him. However, the questions began to change and I felt a strange feeling in my gut. The manâs next question seemed to alter my perception of reality. âDo you believe in Jesusâ, the man asked. I answered easily saying, âOf course, I believe Jesus is the savior of Man.â The man beside me smiled and I felt a little better.
The next question was about the Devil and if you believe in one you must believe in the other. Well, that is what I thought at least. The man beside me said, âSon, I have met the Devil in every battle on Earth. I have met the Devil in every battle in Heaven and Hell. The world does not know the true power the Devil holds.â I looked at the man beside me and for a brief moment, I thought I saw something running beside my car. I thought it might be a reflection, so I ignored the running image and looked at the man in the passenger seat.
The man had tears running down his face as he said the next few words. âSon, I see the devil inside of you.â I did not know what to say to the man. The words came out slowly, âSir, I am not proud of some things I have done. I do not agree that the Devil is inside of me though.â The man wept with tears as he said the following words to me, âI see the Devil inside of you, I see the Devil controlling your life and you do not know it. I fear for your soul, my son! I died to save your soul, but you chose not to accept my sacrifice.â
I just looked at the man beside me. I did not know what to say, so I did not say anything. The blurry image was back in the window and I finally noticed what it was. There were thousands of angels flying next to the car. The angels began to sing and a bright light surrounded me. The next thing I knew, I was in my room. My alarm was going off and the light in my bedroom was on. I guess it was a dream but it felt real to me. I shook the dream off and got ready for work. On my way to work, I passed a man holding out his hand. The man looked familiar but I could not place him. I looked back to see him laughing and pointing at me. That is when I heard the horn. The last thing I remember is having that dream. I wish I could go back to that dream and accept Jesus. Now, I will spend eternity in the pits of Hell.
